5 Ways To Stay Active in a Sedentary Job

This week, we want to talk to those of you that work at desks all day. We have 5 ways that you can increase your activity and burn more body fat if you work in a sedentary job.

To achieve fat loss, we simply need to be burning more calories than we are consuming. This means that the more active we are, the more calories we burn, and the easier it's going to be to get rid of any unwanted body fat.

1. Prioritise 30 minutes of exercise per day

Schedule a 30-minute time slot in your diary, just like you would a meeting. And don't let anything override that slot, unless it is an emergency of course. As a minimum we advise aiming for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day.

2. Stay hydrated

Ensure you stay hydrated all throughout the day. Sipping water throughout the day can help fight fatigue, prevent hydration headaches and keep you from snacking when you're not hungry, which will help with calorie control!

3. Snack on protein

As protein takes longer to digest than carbs and sugar do you wont feel the blood sugar spike and crash that would follow.

Combine your go-to fruit with a source of protein to help keep you fuller for longer. A few high-protein foods that you could snack on:

  • ●  Protein bars

  • ●  Hummus and veggies

  • ●  Almonds

  • ●  Hard-boiled eggs

  • ●  Greek yoghurt

  • ●  Trail mix

4. Stand at your desk

If you are able to, standing at your desk can help burn more calories. It is also great for helping with posture! Obviously, you don't have to stand at your desk all day long but maybe consider doing this on and off throughout the day.

Standing can also improve your blood sugar levels, which is excellent for fat loss too!

5. Pack your own lunch

Last but not least, take your own lunch to work. This is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to gain control over what fuel you give your body every single day. Keep it simple and as nutritious as possible to ensure it satisfies and fills you for the whole day.
