Let's talk about the importance of post workout nutrition. When you put yourself through a tough training session, you're priming your body to grow and adapt.

If you want to achieve the best fitness results possible then you've got to give yourself sufficient rest and nutrition to grow after each workout.

Post workout nutrition is the start of the recovery and strengthening process, and what you choose to eat matters. 


When you take part in a high intensity training session you’ll burn through your body's energy stores, post workout we need to replenish these energy stores.


Examples of foods that can help replenish our energy stores:


  • White rice

  • Pasta

  • Potatoes


We also want to consume a lean source of protein alongside our carbohydrate source, the reason we need a lean source of protein is because fats can slow down the digestion process and we want to get these macronutrients into our system as quickly as possible to start that repairing process.


Examples of lean sources of protein:


  • Chicken breast

  • Tofu

  • Beans

  • Lentils


We are sure you have all experienced being super hungry post workout so ensure you leave enough calories in your daily calorie budget for this post workout meal. They tend to provide a hefty amount of calories once you've combined your protein and carb source.
